Blizzard is about to give Overwatch 2 fans a ton of details about what’s on the way to the game in the coming months. An Overwatch 2 Spotlight showcase is set for February 12 at 1PM ET and you can watch it right below.
Trust me, if you’re an Overwatch 2 player or even if you’re casually interested in the game, you’re not going to want to miss this one. The stream is set to include details about new heroes and cosmetics, as well as “groundbreaking” PVP updates. I wager this is when we’ll find out about the new weapon variant you can unlock with competitive points this year as well.
I really like this approach of getting one big overview of the next few months of Overwatch. It gives fans a clearer picture of what’s ahead without necessarily spilling all of the beans.
There was no BlizzCon last year, otherwise we might have found out about a lot of this stuff then. BlizzCon 2023 was when we learned about the Clash map type, as well as Venture and Juno (then known as Space Ranger).
Overwatch 2 Vs. Marvel Rivals
This feels like a pretty important showcase for Overwatch 2, given that Marvel Rivals stomped into the hero shooter space over the last few months. It has taken over much of the genre’s discourse and there are certainly some Overwatch players who have jumped over to the newer game.
Most (of not all) of what we see during Overwatch 2 Spotlight will have been in development long before Marvel Rivals debuted. So these won’t exactly be reactionary moves to NetEase’s game, but it’ll be interesting to see how Blizzard frames the updates nonetheless.
If you’re unable to watch the stream as it happens, be sure to stop by my blog’s homepage. I’ll do my best to round up all of the news and updates and have everything ready for you to digest as soon as possible. I’m excited for a lot of the stuff that’s coming to Overwatch 2 in the near future, and I’m sure you will be too.
