The next hero to join the Overwatch 2 lineup is Freja.

Details about new heroes are always going to be among the most interesting things possible to Overwatch 2 players, and we got plenty of that during the Spotlight event today. Blizzard revealed the next two heroes that are coming to the game and we got a decent look at the first of them.
Freja is a DPS hero who will officially arrive in Season 16 in April, but there will be a trial weekend sometime during Season 15. Freja is a bounty hunter who was formerly a search and rescue operative. Other details about her character and background have yet to be revealed, but it seems like she has a high skill ceiling.
Her weapon is the Revdraw Crossbow, which unleashes rapid-fire bolts. An ability called Take Aim seemingly slows things down so you can “line up the perfect shot and fire a high-speed explosive bolt that’ll turn targets into fireworks,” Blizzard wrote in a blog post.

Freja has two movement abilities as well. Quick Dash reloads Freja’s explosive bolt, while Updraft will send her into the air to get a view of the battlefield from above.
An ability called Bola Shot appears to be Freja’s Ultimate. “Snag an enemy with an explosive Bola Shot,” Blizzard said. “Wrap them up and pull in their unlucky teammates for the ultimate combo play.”
Overwatch 2’s 44th hero
Freja isn’t the only hero who debuted during the Spotlight stream. We also got a peek at hero 44, who will arrive later this year in Season 18. Codenamed Aqua, this Chinese hero has water-based abilities. Blizzard isn’t saying what role he fits into just yet, however here’s a peek at concept art:

Maximilien
Add all of that up, and it means that despite some recent teases, you won’t be able to play as Maximilien in Overwatch 2 anytime soon.
